19. COVID-19 Outdoor Net Booking Process

We have reviewed the ECB guidance and as a result have implemented the following process for Club Members to participate in a Net Session with fellow Club Members only. A summary of the ECB guidance can be found here. Please familiarise yourself with this, particularly the section for "Individuals".

Summary of Roehampton Cricket Club process for using outdoor nets at the Roehampton Cricket Club home ground or affiliate sessions at Ibstock Place School or Richardson Evans Playing Fields:

• The club’s nets can only be used if you book a session via our booking system which we now have in place.
• To book a net please contact Josh Willmott via whatsapp or email.
• For the first 2 weeks of April, nets will be held at Richardson Evans Playing Field (Tuesday nights) or Ibstock Place School (Wednesday nights) from 6pm-8pm (or until bad light stops training)
• After this we will look to run training sessions on Putney Heath – more details of this will follow
• Nets will be limited to 6 people in a net
• When booking a slot you should request which day you would like. Note – your booking IS NOT confirmed until you have received confirmation from Josh.
• Booking is on a first come first served basis and you cannot book on behalf of another club member
• On booking you will be asked to confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to this process.
• A nominal fee of £5 will be charged for each person for each slot. Payment is accepted via transfer into the Roehampton Cricket Club bank account prior to your session or via iZettle on the day.
• Slots will be allocated on a first come/first serve basis. If demand is such that we are unable to provide you with a net this time, you will have first right of refusal for a slot when and if further sessions are planned.
• Maximum of one net session per Club Member at present. Should there be demand we will be looking to continue these sessions weekly as well as potentially running sessions on other days as well.
• Prior to the day of your slot, you will be informed as to which committee member is managing the session your slot is in.
• Social distancing of at least two metres must be maintained at all times (unless both participants are members of the same household).
• The pavilion at both net location will not be open
• You must use your own batting equipment and should not share that equipment.
• RCC will provide you with a ball to use during training. This will be sanitised before it is given to you and will be sanitised afterwards – please do not share balls. You are welcome to provide your own ball
• No saliva or sweat should come into contact with the ball at any time (hence balls should not be shared either).
• You MUST wash your hands at home before and after using the Cricket Club’s outdoor net facilities. Bring your own hand sanitiser where possible.
• In line with current Government guidance - if you are symptomatic, living in a household with a possible COVID-19 infection or if you are classified as extremely vulnerable on health grounds, you should remain at home and follow Government guidance. If you display any symptoms of COVID-19 please do not make a booking to use the facilities and please remain at home. Please see this website which lists symptoms of COVID-19. If you have made a booking and contract any symptoms, please cancel your booking with immediate effect.

The nets are artificial and therefore please do not wear spikes.

Stumps will be provided for the net sessions.

ECB has provided detailed guidance on the preparation and administration of outdoor facilities for clubs, and guidelines for participation for individuals. The situation is evolving constantly, and we will continue to update our guidance as more information becomes available.

Further advice is available at the GOV.UK and Sport England websites. Please regularly check these sites and the updated ECB guidance as this policy position is likely to change over time and could also become more regionalised and localised as time progresses.
Any Club Member found not to be following these procedures or the direction of the committee member running the session, will not be able to book any future net slots. These rules are stringent for a reason, to comply with national ECB guidance and to protect our Club Members and their families from Covid-19.
