Roehampton 5th's team took on a youthful Epsom CC 4th's side at Barn Elms. After being put into bat, Roehampton got off to an excellent start with Mark Boag and Rory Gee building a solid and steady opening partnership of 56 on a tricky pitch in the face of some accurate bowling. Rory was dismissed for 18 just ahead of drinks and after the break Mark began to really open his arms, smashing a handful of shots to the boundary. He eventually fell for an excellent 47 to the off spin of Stammers, who was extracting variable bounce and significant turn from the pitch.

Mark's departure sparked a mini collapse, with two more wickets falling relatively quickly in the next two overs. The arrival of Aziz Kochai turned the tide somewhat as he blazed 19 off 12 balls and gave the innings some momentum, hitting the previously miserly Stammers for three consecutive 6s. Roehampton lost wickets at fairly regular intervals over the remaining 10 overs. However, a number of contributions from the lower order, centred around a useful 19* from Ahmad Mustafa Mokhlis, helped Roehampton to 154 for 9 from their allotted 40 overs.

Epsom's innings got off to a fair start in the face of some decent bowling. Roehampton's opening bowlers Zikrullah Mohklis and Richard Payn each grabbed a wicket in the opening 12 overs, before Payn struck again in the 16th over to leave Epsom nervous on 38-3. The arrival of Sharrock gave Epsom's batsmen further headaches as he grabbed two wickets in his first three overs, one featuring a fabulous grab from Aadil Gulrez at square leg. Another wicket at the other end had Epsom teetering on 62-6 after 21.3 overs and left Roehampton believing they could wrap up a win.

The arrival of Waqas Shahid at the crease proved to be a turning point as he counter attacked and built up a fairly swift partnership with Joseph Massey to keep Epsom up with the rate. Roehampton began to rue dropping Shahid in the early stages of his innings, after he tried one hit too many from the bowling of Sharrock in the 24th over.

With the game poised at 123-6 and Epsom needing 32 from 7 overs both teams felt they had a decent chance of grabbing the win, despite Epsom looking slight favourites. However, after an expensive 34th over which Shahid took for 17 runs, Roehampton's chances faded and Epsom wrapped up a fairly comfortable victory with two overs to spare as they finished the innings on 155-7.
